Through the example of an integrative learning assessment project tied to the introduction of a Integrative Experience General Education requirement, this session will address two particularly challenging aspects of student learning assessment: (1) systematic analysis of qualitative evidence and (2) documenting students’ integrative (or connected) learning. We conducted sophomore, junior, and senior focus groups and asked students to map the connections they could identify across their Gen Ed, Major, Co-Curricular, Personal and Professional development experiences at the University. Participants will review our mapping technique and the method used to translate students’ qualitative responses into analyzable evidence. The session will highlight what we have learned about the character of students’ integrative learning and experiences at our University and how these results inform institutional actions. Participants will have the opportunity to work with the mapping tool and review the analytic approach used.
