Our institution is committed to building a culture of engagement surrounding general education assessment at multiple campus locations. Due to the consolidation of two institutions, we had the opportunity to create a general education program with a focus on core curriculum to satisfy state requirements. The foundation of the core curriculum is general education student learning outcomes which must be assessed at an institutional level. Over the last year, in partnership with the General Education and Core Course Faculty Senate Subcommittee, we have worked to build collaborative communities responsible for an institution-wide general education assessment cycle. This session highlights faculty engagement activities and practices used to enhance collaboration and community around general education assessment. Institutions that are developing or refining general education assessment strategies or seeking ways to engage more faculty in the process will gain insights from presenters and peers through an interactive session including mini-lectures and reflective activities.
