Developing a positive campus culture around assessment can be a continuing challenge. Just when it seems like faculty and administrators are finally on board with your vision of assessment, something happens (budget cuts, a new provost, state system requirements) that makes your work infinitely more difficult. This session, designed for assessment leaders but also useful for faculty and administrators, will engage attendees with a scenario that raises a number of common challenges assessment leaders encounter in their work. That introduction will be followed by discussion of questions focused on the roles and opportunities of three key stakeholder groups (faculty, administrators, assessment leaders) in maintaining that culture. The session will culminate with participants identifying ways in which the assessment leader can reshape a problem culture and create a more productive dynamic through rethinking their own assumptions, behaviors, and language around assessment.
